Obituary for John Edward McKay
John Edward McKay, 79, of Ludlow passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 10, 2019. Born in Ludlow he was a lifelong resident and devoted member of St. Elizabeth Parish. John served his country honorably in the United States Navy and worked for many years as an Analyst for KPMG Bearing Point and also taught Computer classes at St John the Baptist School. John was involved in the Ludlow Soccer Association throughout his life, serving as Treasurer and coach of 8-10 Fairway Builders for 20 years. As a soccer official, he refereed for both USSF and Intercollegiate Soccer for 28 years. He belonged to the MA. State Referee Association and was an Assessor for 10 years. John leaves his beloved wife of 57 years Alice (Gagne) McKay of Ludlow; loving children Craig McKay of Ludlow and Lori Lewicki of Ludlow and her boyfriend Andy Gagne; cherished grandchildren Alicia Bartshe and husband Kevin, Lauren Parker and husband Dan, Trevor Lewicki and Nikolas McKay; his grand-dog Denali and several caring nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Sadly John was predeceased by his siblings, Edward McKay, Helen Grosvenor, Mae Duquette and Betty Rodrigues. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held for John on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Parish, family and friends are asked to gather at the church directly as Father James McCurry will be celebrating mass. Later that day on Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00pm the family will be receiving friends and family at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Burial for John will be held on Thursday May 16, at 11:00am at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. John’s family has asked to send donations to Shriners Hospital or St. John the Baptist School in lieu of flowers.
