José Valadas, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Caldas da Rainha, Leiria, Portugal, on June 13, 1939 to José and Beatriz (de Jesus) Valadas. José was educated in Portugal and upon completing high school, he served in the Portuguese Navy from 1957-1959 followed by the Portuguese Merchant Marines from 1959-1963. He immigrated to the United States becoming naturalized in 1967 and settled in Ludlow where he and his wife Adel raised their family. In Ludlow, José was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, The Gremio Lusitano Club, The Jose’s Society, and the former Portuguese American Citizens Club. He also loved horticulture and will be affectionately remembered for his fruit trees, fig trees, and his Valadas vineyard which fueled his passion for gardening and winemaking. In addition, he was a member of the Central CT Manchester Homing Pigeon Club and an avid soccer fan of the NE Revolution and English Premier League, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, particularly sharing the stories of his life with them.
José was the devoted husband of 61 years to Adel (Leonardo) Valadas; a loving father to Odette Taylor and husband Matthew, and Daniel Valadas and wife Susan; a beloved grandfather to Emily, Andrea, and Benjamin Taylor, and Isabella, Daniel II, Amelia, and Julia Valadas; a cherished great-grandfather to Sydney; a dear brother to Rui Valadas and wife Manuela, and the late Lucinda, Lourinda, and Lucia; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal.
