Obituary for Lurdes (Mendes) Quiterio
Lurdes (Mendes) Quiterio, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Benedita, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Galinha) Mendes. Lurdes immigrated to the United States in 1966 and was a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She worked for many years in the environmental service deptartment of Baystate Medical Center from where she retired, and will be remembered for always presenting herself with an impeccable and classy style.
Lurdes was the beloved wife of the late Raimundo Quiterio who predeceased her in 2020; a loving mother to Manuel Quiterio and wife Fatima; a devoted grandmother to Jesse Quiterio and wife Grace, and Nicole Quiterio; a dear sister to Trindade Santos, Manuel Mendes, Antonio Mendes, and the late Zé Mendes; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services for Lurdes will be held on Tuesday, December 30th. Visiting hours are from 9:00-10:15am at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
