Obituary for Joao Silveira
Joao Silveira, 87, of Indian Orchard passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday January 5, 2013. Born in Pedrario Serrequinhos, Montalegre, Portugal to the late Joao and Maria (Lage) Silveira he has lived in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield for many years and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Joao was predeceased by his wife Emilia (Dos Santos) Silveira and his son Jose Silveira. He leaves his children; Antonio, Mario and Julia of Monroe, CT., Joaquim of Shelton, CT. Maria of Indian Orchard and Manuel in Portugal; 10 cherished grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as his brothers Manuel, Antonio, Joaquim his sister Maria and the late Emilia. He also leaves several caring nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Joao will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2013 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning only from 8:15-10:15am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11:00am. Joao’s burial will take place in Cemeterio do Pedrario, Montalegre, Portugal.
