Obituary for Edward J. Martin Jr.
Edward J. Martin Jr., 74, of Ludlow, died peacefully on October 10, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicopee, son of the late Edward Sr. and Reda Mae (Gauthier) Martin; he was raised in Granby and has lived in Ludlow for the past 46 years where he was a faithful communicant and usher at St. Elizabeth Parish. Edward retired from Street Lumber/Granby Cash & Carry, where he worked for 53 years and upon his retirement worked part time at CA Smith in Ludlow. He was an avid golfer and loved nature and walking at Quabbin; but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife of 53 years Anne (Laramee) Martin, whom he treasured deeply. Edward was the loving father to Thomas Martin and wife Annie, of Chicopee, Roger Martin and Kathy Mazzaferro, of Chester, and Arlene Desforges and husband David, of Ludlow; a cherished grandfather to Jenelle Desforges, and the late Sgt. Joshua Desforges, USMC; Michelle, Elizabeth and Joe Martin, and Jessica and Michael Martin; great grandfather of 4; and a dear brother to Alfred and Betty Martin, Leo and Gretchen Martin, Rosemarie Mickey, and Jeannette and Myron Ingham. Edward will also be sadly missed by his dog Lola and many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:30am from Ludlow Funeral Home with A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30pm offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church with Monsignor Homer P. Gosselin presiding. Burial to follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 5-8pm.
