Obituary for Celeste (Dias) Batista
Celeste (Dias) Batista, 82, of Ludlow was called safely home to be with God on Sunday September 2, 2012. Born in Valdanta, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Joao and Ana (Dias) Coelho. Celeste has lived in Ludlow since 1963 where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a proud member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club. She leaves her beloved husband of 64 years Armando Batista of Ludlow; loving children Jose Joao Batista and his wife Candida, Naida Nascimento and her husband Jaime and Teresa Batista of Ludlow and Carlos Batista and his wife Deborah of Three Rivers; cherished grandchildren Michael Batista, Diane Nascimento, Elaine Nogueira, Robert Nascimento, Kate Batista, Kelly Batista and Emily Batista; great-grandchildren Alyah Nogueira, Alyssa Nogueira, Eli Batista and Brynn Nascimento; caring sisters Gloria Augusto and Maria Julia Santos both of Ludlow as well as several loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends throughout the community. Sadly Celeste was predeceased by her sister Rosalina Augusto. Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 6, 2012 at 8:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm
